about
I started writing this song in early 2020 before shit really hit the fan, it was originally just a song about leaving home but as i held onto it throughout the year to come it kept absorbing new meanings & associations, new memories entered into its world and it grew into an collage of yearning, despair, instability & anxiety. it's ultimately a hopeful track and i hope it resonates with you.
lyrics
The wind is falling out, I can feel it in my mouth, spilling cold & broken over my teeth. I woke up from the dream, sweat-covered, clinging to my t-shirt in the moonlit gleam. I'm not the body standing there, I am floating in the air, I felt alive although I couldn't breathe. And I know it's for the best, but this weight in my chest--I need to run outside and scream.
I'm watching petals fall, I'm losing track of a person who I thought I'd get to be. I'm only passing the time, only counting sunsets in such slow calamity.
...and when you said to me that the stars are just a sea (wide and glimmering underneath the trees), I imagine falling off. We'll become astronauts...or just a broken pile of space debris. For now: staring at the floor. Life's a beast and life's a bore, the gears are grinding way too loud to ignore.
I'm watching petals fall, I'm losing track of a future that I always hoped to see. I'm only passing the time, only counting sunsets in such slow calamity.
I don't wanna waste my time, every little thing around me makes me hope to see some sunshine. Isn't it a useless rhyme? Again and again, I'm overgrown in the least comforting corner of my mind. You're not too far away, but you're just in my pocket. I need you so badly, I don't know what to say.
